I have a set of 6,10,12 springform pans which are just under 3" deep. Can I use these instead of a regular cake pan? (I need the depth and only have 2" high regular round cake pans)

Would it be better to collar the 2" pans?

Thanks!

Annie,
This is so funny I was going to post about this very topic today. Last night I was at my sisters while she was making a cake. She had used her 10" spring form pan. She turned it over and used the very bottom of the pan for the top and it was awesome! It was the most flat level cake I have seen. She did have to fill in a tiny ridge around the top in her crumb coat but other than that it worked wonderfully!

Thanks Melissa!

I noticed the little ridge on the sf pans, but figured that shouldn't be a problem. I wasn't sure how the batter would bake up.

I'll give it a shot! thumbs_up.gif
