What color did you make? Try adding a little more flavor to it.

oh my, when you make dark colors sometimes they have a ink taste to them. In the future start with another color first like pink then add burgandy. Some people use coolaid, cherry juice or something red to start.
I dont usually make dark colors but maybe try adding some additional flavor like butter flavor. I hope someone can come up with another idea.good luck

You may have to begin again. I have had the same problem with getting really dark colors. You can try adding more vanilla, butter and almond to see if that helps but if it doesnt you just have to get rid of that and start over.

Are you using food coloring or Wilton icing colors? I use the icing colors and don't seem to have any problems, but then again I eat so much of the icing I don't know if I'd know the difference!

Americolor is totally the way to go (at least I think so). Americolor Super Red and Super Black are amazing and you don't have to use too much color at all so the taste of your icing is not affected.

The last red cake I did, I used Americolor super red, which made a real true red color, but it was inedible because of the taste it added to the icing. I'm using Wilton no taste tulip red for a cake tonight and hoping for the best.

Do Americolor and Wilton have different types of coloroing? Is one easier to use than another? It seems to me Wilton doesn't have that big of a color selection-different boxes and names, but very simular.
