I am attempting my first try at Marzipan. I am doing a Wizard of Oz cake and would like to have the wicked witches feet coming from under the cake. I have NO idea how to color it. can you please help???? Thanks so much!!!!!

When I colored my marzipan I used my Americolor gels and with a bit of powdered sugar, kneaded it! It gets really sticky so that's why I used powdered sugar and gloves!!!!!!! Brushing it with coco butter once it has set will give it a shine!!!
I can't wait to see how it turns out!!! Keep us posted!

Lorann Oils sells Cocoa Butter. I have a 4 oz. jar of it. It is a solid but you melt it and then brush over to make shiney. You can also use it on chocolate! A little goes a long way!
On my container is says: Uses include: massage, cosmetics, soap making, Chocolate mfg. I have used it on my marzipan to shine it up. It has no taste!
Contains: Cocoa Butter, N.F. / U.S.P. Food grade, Natural moisturizer

Hi,
I just made a few figures in marzipan for my pirate ship cake. (They're in my photos). I too, used Americolor gels. You must knead really well, or else the colour may be a bit streaky. If it's sticky, you can add a little powdered sugar or icing sugar.
And, remember, the colour will darken quite a bit with time. I remember a Barney cake I did some years ago... The purple looked fine to me when I iced the cake , and then I woke up in the morning to see it had darkened a lot!
All the best,
Karen

I've used my Wilton paste colors to color marzipan. Just put a few smears on the marzipan and knead it in. I usually fold the marzipan over the color and then knead/roll it around. My hands don't get too much color on them that way.
Have fun! I'm sure it will turn out great!

I'm a huge Wizard of Oz fan and I can't wait to see your cake!
