When my dads Vietnam buddy came for a visit I made a lovely flag cake but the acutal cake is what you will really like...It was camoflage. I used gold cake batter and colored some olive green, left some gold, and then had chocolate too. I dropped spoonfulls of various batter together DO NOT SWIRL OR MARBLE however, just let colors bake together when it is sliced it is CAMO! Tastes good too, just enoguh chocolate!

I did an army helmet. Not exactly proud of the way it turned out so I never posted it here or on my new website....baked the top in a pyrex bowl and then sat it on top of an 8" round.
You CAN however, find it at http://www.geocities.com/candy177/cakes.html
Miraculous, that sounds sooooo cool!

Here are a few ideas. (not sure where the pics were from)

This is one I did for a returning soldier-could easily be for a child and was very simple.

I have done 3 cakes using plastic army men, all variations on the same theme, 2 quarter sheet cakes, and one half sheet cake. 2 were for the same child on consecutive years, at his request (Note that the platoons have reversed positions)...and the 3rd was for his younger brother who was not about to let big brother have something he couldn't have. Kids are so funny...
Anyway, here is a link to the pictures:
