Does anyone here know of a graduation cap template or have any tricks to share on how you might have done it?

Any advise will be appreciated!

I know this post is a couple of days old but I wanted to share how I make grad caps out of chocolate. I make the base of the cap by using a styrofoam bowl, I melt the chocolate, fill the bowl 1/2 full roll it around to cover the sides and turn it upside down let it harden and carefully remove the bowl from the chocolate. for the top I just draw a square and cover it with wax paper and then fill in with choc. after both peices have set I attach them together with more melted choc. for the tossle I use a grass tip and buttercream icing to pipe it. To finish I place a chocolate button on top. I tried to add a picture but unable to at this time I have a couple in my pictures.

I made some small graduation caps out of fondant by cutting a circle and draping it on top of a condiment cup to dry. ( that was the perfect shape for the size I needed) The mortar board part was just a square of fondant cut to the right size then layed on wax paper to dry. I made the tassle out of fondant using a clay gun with the "grass" extruder disc but you could just cut small strips to make it too. Then I used a dab of buttercream to glue the top on the bottom piece.

Another option to make the mortarboard I just saw in a magazine was to use a graham cracker square. Cover that in buttercream or fondant. Obviously it's not a big one but it would work great for smaller caps.
