I improvised and glued mini clay pots to the bottom of an acrylic cake plate for a cake. Now I want to remove them and can't. I have peeled away gun glue from plates before with no problem, but the glue between the acrylic and clay seems set like concrete. I tried prying between the two and it is just chippping the clay. I don't care if the clay pots break, but I don't want to snap the acrylic plate. Any suggestions? Something I can soak this in to loosen the glue? icon_redface.gif

Couldn't hurt to try, I hadn't thought of that.

I'm betting it's because the clay pots are so porous that the glue is in the crevices instead of just on the surface.
I would break as much of the pots off as you can and then take the rest and put it under a heat gun or a very hot hair dryer (not sure if it will be hot enough) and then try to wedge a knife in there and pry it off.

Have you tried Goo Gone? Not sure if that will work but it's worth a shot.

I wouldn't use Goo-Gone on a surface that is made for food.

From this link, it says Goo Gone can be used to clean ovens (just wash with soap and water when through) and that is it "orally non-toxic".

Well, you can use lots of different cleaners for ovens and once it's cleaned and wiped down it's fine. Food generally doesn't come in contact with the surface.
It says it's orally non-toxic, but you should keep it away from skin. I definitely don't think the Health Department would okay it for use on food surfaces if something like contact paper is not okay.
If it was for home use, then I'd say do it, but I would never use it for a surface of a cake, I've sold.

maybe you used the glue when it was hotter than usual and the acrylic has melted into the glue!!

SUCCESS
I hit each pot with a hot blow dryer and they twisted right off. There is still glue residue but I think I can remove it with Goo Gone or Goof Off because the glue is on the underside of the plate, not the surface. Thanks Sugar Pals! thumbs_up.gif
