Does The Local Walmart Or Anywhere You Know Of Put A Image

Walmart and most grocery stores will make an edible image for you to use. Cost varies depending on where you go.

I'm in Virginia and I can't find a single place that will make an edible image for me. They will do it as long as I buy the cake from them and they put the image on theirselves but they will not just make an image and sell it to me. I've tried all of the Walmarts and SuperWalmarts and they just laugh at me. It is so frustrating because I just can't afford a printer set up right now and I can't find anyone who can do it. I hope that you have better luck....

Hi Margie!!! We are neighbors, I live in Newport News!!! LOL..... Just had to say Hi!! I have not tried my walmart here, but I will tell you, last year when my daugther graduated from HS, I got my cake from them, with her pictures on it, and the cake was HORRIBLE. Hence, I started taking classes.

Good morning all, at the Wal-Mart where I live they will do one, but will not do anything that is copyrighted

Butternut, I can totally relate. There is only one place here that does edible images (KTA) no one else does them not walmart or safeway etc. And the people at KTA when I have inquired about buying their toppers (Safeway will sell their toppers to me) and about buying the edible image w/o a cake have been very rude. They pretty much told me that why would they waste their products on me when they can put them on a cake and make more money. I told them I was willing to pay the markup on the items, but they said no way.

Thanks guys I have decided to go another way with the decorations. But it is good to know about walmart.

I find this reasoning funny. I use to order supplies for the wal-mart bakery I worked in. The kits are not that expensive (except for one, i think it was the harley-davidson b/c it was a pretty decent bike) And the price of the kit (what most stores sell them for) is usually the same price or more of what it would be to add it to a cake.
I always looked at it in the way the it just took me 10 seconds to sell you something instead of 1/2 hour to put it on a cake and make less money.... sometimes people just don't see the full picture in the business side of it.... grrrr

HIya leily,
That's the way i figure it too, you never know that person might come in and order a cake or something. Our policy is you never turn down a customer no matter what (cept when it does come to copyrighted material and naughty cakes) but other than that, we figure if it has a label we can sell it (all products in the walmart have to have a SKU # or PLU# upc code is what it amounts too. to be sold). So we have a PLU# for kits and we sell them all the time. For your info the PLU# for kits and edible images is 985.
Just thought I would pass that on to you ladies and gents about the number.
BTW leily, nice to see a fellow bakery associate past or present.

LOLOL That is so funny, I was going to put that number in my post but it has been a couple of years since I worked in a bakery and wasn't sure if I was right, can't believe I remember that number!
I use to have them all memorized b/c I was a donut fryer when I started, moved to a new wal-mart and started by stocking the floor, then went on to the baker, then to Cake Decorating, So I hit all areas that used PLU's, then when I was cake decorating I started doing Inventory everymonth with our Bakery Assistant Manager (don't remember what the title is now, i know they changed it but....)
