Has anyone baked a cake in their Pampered Chef glass mixing bowls? I am making a volcano cake and was going to use the small bowl to make the mountain. I've heard you can bake cakes in them (for doll cakes), but I'm curious as to what temperature and how long to bake? Also, can you freeze those bowls?

I have baked in the bowls. I made a "baked Alaska" cake last year. Just follow the directions for the temp.with the recipe and you will be fine. And they are freezable. I like the lil' prep bowl set for making mini doll cakes. They are a blast!

I made my doll cake in that bowl. It will help the cake bake more evenly and not get so crispy around the outside if you stick an upside down flower nail on the bottom.
It worked great for me!
I used the whole mix for the large batter bowl. It didn't fill the whole thing.

I think I had to bake mine a lil' bit longer. I just greased and floured(with the mix) the heck out of it. One thing I can tell you is that make sure POSITIVELY sure that it cake is cooled, I'll say at least 2 hours, before you try to remove it. I learned the hard way...lol.

OK, will do. I was planning on freezing mine before I frost it, so I hope that will not cause problems getting it out of the bowl. I never even THOUGHT about that. Maybe I won't freeze but instead chill overnight. I will definitely do the flower nail, though.
Thanks for all the good advice!

I love the flower nail! We bought an extra "just for" baking. Good suggestion, AmyBeth!

I have 2 Pampered Chef batter bowls. I used to sell PC. I LOVE Pampered Chef!! I baked 2 cakes in them a couple weeks ago. I made a teapot. Look in my photos and see the teapot I made. I just put one cake on top of the other, one upside down. It worked well. I just have to work on the spout. It looks like an old man's shriveled up penis. Sorry about that. I bake in the bowls and you can freeze in them too. AWESOME bowls. If you don't have any, you should get some.l sunflowerfreak

I used to sell pampered chef too and I love it! I baked a "Mike" (from monsters inc) out of the big one a few years ago and the cake didn't bake good all the way through but that was before I learned all the tricks from here! I would definately try it again but with the flower nail.

i sell pampered chef and i know you can bake and freeze in them just wanted to let you know dont put the hot bowl into the freezer, the bowls are pretty hardy but you could still run the risk of cracking it with drastic temperature changes. but other than that youll be fine. as for the the temp im not sure i always just tested mine with the pampered chef cake testers. im glad that you enjoy pampered chef. have fun baking!

I LOVE those PC bowls! I would be lost without mine! I have 8 of the big bowls (2 are still in the boxes for when I break one) and 2 of the small ones. There is nothing , in my opinion, as good as those bowls. Worth every penny!
