Has anyone made her brownies before? I have a request for brownies from a co-wokr for her b-day. ( I am the birthday baker at work)

here is the recipe of you have not seen it before. They do sound yum

Outrageous Brownies

Ingredients
1 pound unsalted butter
1 pound plus 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, divided
6 ounces unsweetened chocolate
6 extra-large eggs
3 tablespoons instant coffee powder
2 tablespoons real vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 ¼ cups flour, divided
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
3 cups diced walnut pieces

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13 by 18 by 1 1/2-inch sheet pan.

Melt together the butter, chocolate chips, and unsweetened chocolate on top of a double boiler. Cool slightly. Stir together the eggs, instant coffee, vanilla and sugar. Stir in the warm chocolate mixture and cool to room temperature.

Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to cooled chocolate mixture. Toss the walnuts and chocolate chips with flour to coat. Then add to the chocolate batter. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake for about 30 minutes, or until tester just comes out clean. Halfway through the baking, rap the pan against the oven shelf to allow air to escape from between the pan and the brownie dough. Do not overbake! Cool thoroughly, refrigerate well and cut into squares.

No, but I just finished watching that show and got so hungry for brownies. I looked through the pantry but it was pretty bare. I had no chocolate, just cocoa powder, no butter, just Crisco, and only one egg. I searched for a recipe, found one with those ingredients and halved it because as I said, I only had one egg. baked it in a 6" oval cake pan and satisfied my craving for somethng sweet. Not bad either! icon_biggrin.gif

glad you where able to satisfy your cravings, nothing worse then not have chocolate in the house.

I have made them before. If you are one that prefers a cake like brownie you won't want to do these. They are like a cross between a brownie and fudge. Everyone loves them though that try them, but comment on how they are more fudge-like.

thanks guys. When you made them did you use the same pan size as the recipe? has anyone tired cutting the recipe in half? I guess I could make and freeze what I do not take to work.

I have made these on several occassions and everyone loves them. I have cut the brownies in half but never the recipe they don't last long big or small! You can add every kind of chip to mix and match the flavors to the one your baking for but I agree they are very rich!
