I just made a cake for an order tomorrow and the two cake boxes I have aren't long OR tall enough for it. I don't know what to do. Its actually not the first time this has happened either. Is there a place I can get cake boxes any sizes or that are multiple sizes in one box or something? As far as the urgent part, this cake has no box. I have a rubbermaid container inverted over it right now. Its for my daughters preschool teacher so if I have to give it to her this way, she knows I am new to this so I do think she will be understanding, but I can't keep doing this and I wouldn't DREAM of doing it for anyone I didn't really know. Is there anything better I can do for this cake for the morning (I won't have time to go out anywhere so it has to be something around the house). Thanks. icon_smile.gif

If you go to your local grocery store, they will let you buy boxes from them. I buy some from Publix (special sizes) and they don't say publix on them, so that's a good thing, and they are pretty good about pricing.

I used to buy my boxes from Michael's until I learned my local grocery store sells them cheaper! And they do not have the store logo on them or anything.

If I have a huge cake, and don't have a box available that fits it, I go to the local grocery and ask a stock dude for a box in the general size I need.

Doesn't matter what kind of box, or what it says. I just wrap the whole box--inside and out--in plain, cream colored packaging paper, after I've cut it to size!

Works great--costs next to nothing--what more could you ask for?

Hope this helps,

Do you only have one of each size box? If you have more than one, just put two boxes together (face to face) and prop the lids open. You''ll want to use lots of tape and may have to do some trimming.

I use the free priority mail boxes, cut them a create a box that fits my cake. I do this with larger / odd size cakes.

Go to the produce department of the grocery store. A mushroom box fits a 12x18 cake perfectly. cover the top with extra wide plastic wrap. The cluster tomato boxes and the strawberry boxes are perfect for the 11x15 cake. These boxes are free for the asking.
