when the recipe states to "flute" edge of pie. Exactly how do you go about doing that?

I press my thumb into the edge of the pie, leave a little space and press thumb again all the way around. I don't know if that is right, but that's the way I learned to do it.

It is just a term for making a decorative trim around the egde of the pie crust. It can be done many ways. One easy way is to pinch it to form a point all around the edge.

Make a 'V' with your thumb and index fingertips. then with your other hand press the tip of your thumb into the dough and against the v. this will (should) form a v shaped crimp in the crust. I will look for a link with a photo.....

Here you go:

This is the low bandwidth version but you can change it to the high if you want when you get there. (not knowing your internet speed- trying to be kind! icon_smile.gif )

Okay so that's how to brine a turkey! icon_lol.gif !! Look just below the video and you will see a menu choose pies and then click on the one that says "crimping edges" Sorry tried it twice I don't know why it is doing that!

the last video was very helpful. I like the idea of the pie weights but I don't have them. Can i just pierce the bottom with a fork to let air get through
