I know there are some super-creative people out there who are just dying to help me out icon_lol.gif

I was recently contacted by a local wedding planner, and am working with her on a wedding and groom's cake for September. When we met she really seemed to like me, and my cake. She emailed me today asking me for ideas and a quote for another wedding she's planning, for October! I really want to continue this relationship, as I think she could bring me a lot of business in future.

She wants some creative ideas for a groom's cake with a runner theme. I thought of shoes, like cjf's BRILLIANT shoes here: http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&meta=allby&uname=cjf&cat=0&pos=39 (I hope that link works) But I'm not sure I'm good enough to do something that awesome.

Any other ideas? I NEED YOUR HELP! icon_smile.gif

I don't have pics or anything, but it seems like I saw one once where it was tiers, with basically a running path winding down from top to the bottom. You could add whatever appropriate scenery along the path: flowers, pets, water bottles, discarded shirts, start and finish lines, etc...so there's so room for creativity there...

I think they were on pillars, and the bride/groom were runners, and they were at the bottom (?) maybe, or was it the top?, having arrived at their destination together...

Whatever it was, I remember thinking, "Oh, now THAT's cute!"

first thoughts (and so simple I don't have to sketch it)

variation A: sheet cake...road running diagonally across it.

fondant figure runner running w/ look of terror on face --- reason....

being chased by (take your pic) dog, cat, skunk, mad hedgehog, rabid squirrle, oh, no!...it's the wife (in gown or w/ rolling pin)

. .. or for even more terror two of the above...one in back and one in front...(dog in back, skunk about to squirt in front?)

or

variation B....road, etc. but add a tree, w/ runner up in it, trying to get away from one or more of the above hazzards (and of course a bird taking a dump on his head!)

or

Variation C....runners need motivation...so road etc. as before, but runner is chasing after his favorite passion (beer truck?, ice cream truck?, his wife!?!?!?)

(HTH -- have fun!)

If the runner does races - you could a variation on a runner's bib - though that may be a little simple.
