Hi Everyone! I'm a newbie here and am in need of some help... icon_cry.gif I'd like to try the Antonia74 royal icing for the first time and the recipe asks for "Powdered Icing Sugar" - do I use icing mixture or pure icing sugar? I've searched the internet and cc but couldn't find a clear answer. Sorry if its already been asked.

Thanks in advance for all your help. icon_razz.gif

Pure icing sugar - just sugar no added ingredients (egg whites etc). Hope that helps!

It's also called "confectioner's" sugar or powdered sugar. Here in America, it's just sugar in a powdered form with a little bit of cornstarch added.

Thanks LadyMike for your reply! thumbs_up.gif

This is where I get confused. In Australian icing sugar with cornstarch added is icing mixture, pure icing sugar has nothing added.

I might try it with icing mixture and see how I go.

Thanks again. icon_razz.gif

If you are making the royal icing, you should use the pure icing sugar and not the icing mixture.
