Try lemon filling mixed with buttercream = lemonbutter
or even just buttercream alone is fine too.
You could do a preserve ie Raspberry jam mixed with buttercream= Raspberrycream
Possibilities are endless!

hmmm strawberries are in season now...sounds good to me!

just read the question about the what filling to use for a yellow cake and all the replies. The lemon buttercream sounds really good. I know this is a silly question, but could someone send me the extact recipe. What kind of lemon filling? and is it as simple as just adding it to the buttercream frosting?
thanks

Hi illini89,
Just use lemon pie filling by itself or add a TBSP or two to your buttercream for flavouring.
You can also look up your local cake suuplier and by a sleeve of lemon filling.

whipped cream/creamcheese filling with either fresh strawberries or crushed pineapple...

Just my two cents but whenever I think yellow cake I think rich chocolate buttercream filling!!

nutella on bread is great.... but it is great in buttercream as well... so I agree whit everyone if the say chocolate or nutella LOL
