Ideas For A Deer Hunting And Fishing Cake For 3Yo
Decorating By jjbrink Updated 25 Apr 2007 , 1:26pm by Rikke_Denmark

my son will be turning 3 in august. evertime i asked him what kind of cake he wants, it is either deer hunting or fishing. so i thought i could somehow combine both. i thought about just doing a sheet cake with the woods with deer standing around, and having a pond with fish jumping out. but this seems kinds of boring. i would really like to do something different and experiment. something 3d. or either give a try and doing the little figures from gumpaste, or fondant (which i have never worked with, but am willing to try.) anyone have any ideas on combining the fish and deer into a really cool cake for a 3 year old?
thanks in advance for any ideas that can be played around with

Have you searched through the galleries? There is one picture in particular that I just love with a fish kind of jumping out of the water, with various things around the cake and even mossy golf balls like what you might find at the bottom of a lake. There are a ton of good ideas on here, I have searched for fish and came up with a bunch. There are probably similar results for deer. Good luck.

How about a hunting scene along with a pond with a sign that says "(son's name) fishin' hole". a little boy made out of fondant w/ a fishing cap and pole wearing overalls - sitting on a rock near a camp site.
In the background the woods with a fondant moose and/or deer coming out of the woods.

Hi.
Masie Parrish has a book called "Sugar Dough Magic". In this book are there a great "Gone Fishin'" cake.
