I have to bake for the Mother son dance, and the theme is hawaiian luau. I thought it would be cool to do something that had to do with that. TIA!

There are many ways you can do this. One is just plain flower cupcakes r cookies, another is shapping the cupcake like a coconut. Use can use sunglass shapes, beach towel shapes, hula dancers or even go into the whole fish theme. My suggestion though since it is a Mother-son dance. Go with Surf boards. You can use a gahram cracker stick as the base of the surf board sicking out of a blue frosted cupcake and frost the stick to look like a surfboard.

How about Tiki faces? They'd be great cookies!! I did a google search and found this picture at foureyedbat.com, thought it was cool! Or you could do the faces as chocolate transfers and have them standing up on top of crumb covered cupcakes (to look like sand).

Some of the things at a Luau are : Fire Dancers, Leis, hula dancers, tons of food, music, family, etc. But for the life of me I can't figure out how to put this onto a cupcake. I hope you get lots of good suggestions.
