Or just slightly better than fondant?! I have not tried fondant, just heard it was not tasty. So i'll make sure i don't bother eating it. What does Marzipan taste like? I have both at home, only used fondant for cut outs. I was planning on trying to do cute things w/the marzipan. Afraid to taste anything new.

Marzipan is made from almonds, and that's exactly what it tastes like! It will be fairly subtle in a natural, whiter marzipan, and stronger in the coloured, flavoured stuff. Hope that helps!

katskake, what brand fondant do you use? wilton really does taste yucky but have you tried MMF? reason i ask is because i don't like to try anything new either but i did work up the courage to try MMF and was hooked. because of that i tried satin ice - vanilla and chocolate (chocolate tastes like tootsie roll) and choco pan - botha are so yummy!! i prefer using fondant on my cakes now. ood luck!

Satin Ice is a brand of ready-to-roll fondant. The taste is quite subtle compared to most others, the texture is very smooth. It is easy to work with, and takes color nicely.

Here's the link to the company home page, so you can learn more about it.

I can eat Marzipan the way it is...it is not a type of icing. Some Chocolatiers or Chocolate Shops, form them in fruits, spray them then sell them the way it is.
It can be used to cover cakes. It cannot be compared to Fondant, since Marzipan has Almonds and eggs. Fondant is all sugar, water, Marshmallow & Crisco .. icon_smile.gif

I like the taste of marzipan. The texture is like fondant....maybe a bit stickier? It tastes good as a cake covering, but I haven't tried it on it's own.
