Hi everyone, This coming Friday is Teacher appreciation day. My daughter's school is having a pot luck for the teachers, and since I love making cakes I would love to make a special cake for the teachers.

I see to have cake block, (i guess similar to writer block...lol) I would love to hear some idea's you all might have..

The teachers work so hard with the kids, and do so many special things, I would like to do something special for them...Thanks so much in advance.

Barbara

it's not a cake but one year the student council passed out goodie bags to all the teachers. In the goodie bag were one of each of the candies mentioned on the back of the gift card.

Front of card: To all the teachers throughout this land, please take a bow each time you stand. Today... stop... stand...and think of all the students whose lives you have touched. We applaud you.

Back of card: Even though its not Payday, heres a 100 Grand.
Teachers are our Lifesavers, always there to lend a hand.
Although you may hear us Snicker, we do appreciate you.
So here are some Hugs & Kisses for everything you do.
Thank you from the bottom of our Candy Apple hearts.
You are the ones, after all, who gave us all our smarts.

other ideas:

cupcakes (filled???) with apple shaped decoration on top?

cupcake cake in shape of apple?

(and speaking as a 30-year vet of teaching....you really expect the cake/treat to last that long for everyone to to oooh and ahhh over it??? I bet it's all gone before the end of 1st period!)

more ramblings:

the classic symbols for teaching are:

apple, bell, ruler, chalk board, lamp of learning.

apple & chalk board easy as cookie or cake.

for apple cookie, if don't have apple shaped cutter, can use a heart cutter, trim the point off and use trimming to create stem. cover in red frosting w/ white message.

for chalkboard cookie, just roll out dough and then cut in to rectangles, say 2 x 3.5 (business card size) or 3x5 (note card size). corners can be rounded a bit before cooking (smoosh w/ finger). Brown border with black "board" aread and white message -- or more modern, black border with white message area (the modern whiteboard) and the any color or multi-color message.

same design ideas apply to cake.

for easy of serving consider cupcake cake (grab and go -- personal experience is that faculty lounges rarely have knives in them or much of anything in way of paper goods or even plastic forks!!! --- must not trust us to not hurt ourselves or attack misbehaving students! icon_rolleyes.gif )
