I have a wedding cake due May 29, 2005. Bride wants cupcake wedding cake done in buttercream. Serving 50 guests. Outdoor wedding with colors of pale yellow, pale purple. Bride does want the elegant and classy look. I have never make a cupcake wedding cake and need all your ideas and instruction that you all can give me. Our location is northern Wisconsin so extream heat most likely will not be a problem. The cake will be indoors, I think. I am open to all ideas. Thank you to all!!

Does she want an actual cupcake cake or a cupcake tree? For my wedding a couple of years ago, I had a cupcake tree. I had a round stand with 2 or 3 layer (don't remember now exactly how many it was) and then a large cupcake for the top teir of the stand. You can make it as classy and elegant as you wish by what you use to decorate the cupcakes and the stand.

Thank you for your reply!!
The bride does not really know what she wants. She is leaving it up to me to come up with ideas and such. She got the idea from a bridal magazine so I think it must be a multi level stand with the cupcakes on it. I am not sure how to decorate them, like do I make the top look like a rose? Not really sure what stand to use? I own the wilton crystal piller set and white piller set. I have seen the cupcake tree stand but it made it look very much like cupcakes and I think the bride wants the whole thing to look like a regular wedding cake.

Thanks to all!!

Hope you can help!!

That is where you can find cupcake trees. You can also make them. I am doing a wedding in Aug that is 400 cupcakes and two six inche cakes. I will be doing roses in yellow, pale pink and orange. The orange and yellow she wanted to match the flavor of the cupcake. I will also be doing some royal butterflies to put on some of the cupcakes.

I think this one is about the prettiest one I've ever seen.

I think the way to keep these elegant is to keep them simple...white liners (will look almost clear when done), single small decoration on smooth white icing and a beautiful stand--no cardboard stand.

I AGREE WITH LISA - NO CARDBOARD STAND. THEY LOOK A LITTLE CHEAP IN MY OPINION - SORRY - MAYBE IF YOU COVERED UP THE CARDBOARD SOMEHOW AND MADE IT MORE APPEALING THAT MIGHT WORK.

I did some cupcake flowers that can be found in the gallery under wedding and then go to mini cakes. Maybe you could do some of those and then some with just a simple icing. Maybe some fresh flowers place along side of them. There is also another picture in the gallery of cupcakes on a tiered stand. Worth a look! If I can be of any other help let me know.

A friend of mine did a cupcakes for her wedding. They had to make a stand for her. They took terra cotta planters (just regular plain style) and painted them a burnished gold color. At the bottom was a larger planter and for each level they got a little bigger. for the cakes to sit on they used plywood rounds colored the same gold. I thing it was able 4-5 levels. In the center they bolted a dowel to keep everything together. It was a fall wedding so this is why they chose these colors. If it's in a garden setting you could maybe adapt this to her color scheme.

Another idea is to ask her what typ of flowers she is using for decorating, you could mimic these on top of the cupcakes.
Good luck, can't wait to see the photos icon_smile.gif

I've found theese in the past...some are very pretty. I cant find the one though that took the cupcakes out of the wrappers and turned them upside downafter leveling the tops. They looked just like little nicely shapped cakes fully iced and a rose on top of each one...It was a very prettycupcake tree!

angelsguardme

I bought the floating teir stand by Wilton instead of the regular cupcake stands. I am doing #2 & #3 cupcake weddings this coming weekend & they all want only three tiers. The catering staff typicallly serves off the tray and then starts on the tiers so it stays full display longer.
