HELP!!?? I need a small half circle cake for the top of my cake and the only thing that I can find that's the size/shape that I need is one of my cereal bowls!!

Just wondering, this may seem stupid, but can I put one of them in the oven with mix in it?? Will the cake bake? Will the bowl break?? Thanks! I'm desperate!

a small pyrex or stainless steel mixing bowl would be lots safer.

if using ceramic bowl -- yes should be able to take the heat as it's fired at much higher temp than oven will reach

B U T ---

due to wear and tear of daily use -- could have hidden flaws/cracks that would cause it to break or even shatter.

if you dare it -- I'd put on cookie sheet just in case so it can catch the mess if it does break.

but do NOT recommend using the cereal bowl.

I'm with Doug. Even if it is oven safe, there could be a hidden flaw or crack and that wouldn't be pretty!!

Ya, I opted against it! I'm too chicken! And just decided to try my best to carve a half circle shape!

Thanks for the advise!

i bought several bowls from ikea just for this purpose but for making boobs. they have worked great, but they were new with no visible cracks.
