Best Recipe For 3D Cakes And Sculpting

Hello all! Happy Sunday!
I've been searching the posts for this, and have seen lots of different answers, but not quite the answer that I'm looking for.
I just bought 5 3D pans on ebay ($17 w/shipping!!! )I want to know what is the best recipe to use for these types of pans. Also what would you recommend for stacking topsy turvy cakes?
I've always made my cakes from a box mix and they have always been so moist, and I've done tiered cakes with them, no problem.
I'm looking for something that tastes good and can hold up to a 3D cake pan, carving and topsy turvy.
Thank you!

I have made the 3-d bear, sports ball & the one with the Barbie sticking in the top (can't think of it right now) - I just used the DH mix of choice. I didn't have any problems. I've also used a pound cake recipe for the bear pan, no problems with it either.
HTH!

If I have to carve, or make something 3d, I combine a box of regular cake mix with a box of pound cake mix, and add everything that both boxes say to add.
I do this too. I've also found that the yellow Duncan Hines cake, using the "pound cake recipe" on the side (box of pudding and an extra egg, basically, with a little less water) works good too. Everyone says it tastes really good.

thanks you all!
I've been wanting to try that Durable recipe, and it's gotten good reviews. I also knew about the pound cake, but I never thought about combining the two!

i didnt know you can buy box pound cake. thanks for the info. i will try that recipe
