I need help with ideas for cake for country themed bridal shower, we are having it outside, we will have clothe covered hay bales for seating, with red and white checked table cloths, with daisies for center peices, it will be a cook out type of party. We would prefer to stay away from cakes in shape of boots , hats or horses. Thank you for any help.

you could make the base of the cake look like a checkered tablecloth, put little daisies all over, etc. or an old fashioned country church or barn with the bride lassoing the groom

When I was planning a bridal shower I ran across some ideas you may want to use... Serve drinks in mason jars. Also maybe a cake with a basket weave or even cupcakes...Pies also remind me of country cook out theme.. Good luck let us know what your going to do...Hope this helps.

I had a friend who had a "cowboy" wedding. Her wedding cake looked like a picnic basket with checkered napkins and there were little ants. It was really cute.

What about an old-fashioned "wishing well", could have daisies spilling out of well and over/down the sides. (I like the picnic basket idea too!)

Check my photos. I did a bridal shower cake for a coworker. She had a country theme but for her cake and to keep it somewhat feminine, I used her favorite color (sky blue) and her favorite flower- daisy. I used fondant to make the rope border and the lasso. Hope that helps.

In another thread today, they were talking about a cake made to look like denim with a pocket and sunflowers (could easily be daisies). I'm not sure where that thread is, but it's worth checking out. You might search the photo gallery for blue or sunflower cakes. The cake they were talking about was adorable. I remembered it, too.

That was me looking for the 'denim' cake...lol. I have a bday cake due next month for a woman who takes care of/owns a lot of horses and she only wears blue jeans...I think it would work well for a country theme.

Here's a pic of the cake by thecakegirl here at CC and the original one by Rebecca Suttersby of www.sugarcreations.com :

Nice samples JennT. I think the first one with the daisies would suite the occasion perfectly.

I LOVE the idea of the denim jeans cake...what about making a red and white checked napkin coming out of the pocket???? Maybe instead of just drawing the pocket on you could cut one out of fondant and "glue" it on to the side of the cake and make the napkin come out!!
