Does anyone know what tips I would use to make carrot decorations out of buttercream icing?

depends on how big the decorations need to be. do they need to be life size or small? I did some carrots on a cake for easter and made them life size using orange bc icing in a piping bag with a coupler and no tip. I started at the top of the carrot and squeezed out the icing slowly pausing every few seconds to create the wrinkles in the carrot and moved faster to the tip then i used a grass tip for the green leafy top. turned out great. hope this helps.

I work primarily with 8" round cake layers. We section the cake into 8 servings-use a #10 round to pipe the carrots (heavy squeeze and let build for a second to make the shoulders, move bag from left to right while squeezing; make as long as you need the carrot to be, proportionately; stop pressure and pull to a point). I use a #352 leaf tip to squeeze two leaves at the carrot top, one slightly to the left and one to the right on the carrot). A fatter carrot is more pleasing to the eye than a long skinny one. But isn't that true in most cases? LOL
