I am going to try to make a pirate ship in a few weeks. I remember seeing a template or picture of how they carved the sheet cake to make the pirate ship. But of course now I can't find it. Does anyone have one?

Thanks,
Cecilia

The only pirate ships I've done are using the DecoPac kit.

Are you trying to just carve a flat shape into the sheet cake or stack it to make a 3D pirate ship? I just did a 3D one a few weeks ago but haven't posted the pic yet but will very soon...

I have seen a couple of ships. I have a book with one it's from Australia. I should dig it up.

Basically you make a 9X13 minumun, you cut it in 1/2 lengthwise. so you get 2 : 4 1/2 X13.

The you cut the away about 4 inches so you are left with 2: 4 1/2 X9 and 2: 4 1/2 X 4.

You stack the 2: 4 1/2 X9

Then at one end, using skewers you put one of the smaller piece 4 1/2 X 4 to have it overlap about 1 inch to look like the back of the boat.

On the front you can either cut the other 4 1/2 X 4.
in 2 and stack, since you can carve the whole thing to be pointed.

I hope this makes sense.

Let me know if this is what you were thinking of? I can scan the info and picture for you.

Also I know a link to another cake idea this is a different one from the one I explained above:

Good Luck.
