Converting Cake Recipe To Cupcake Recipe

Is there a set rule for converting a cake recipe for cupcakes? I know the ingredients will stay the same, but does the baking time change?
I have a yellow cake recipe I want to use for cupcakes from the Wilton site, but they have no suggestions for that.

cupcakes usually bake a bit shorter than regular cakes.I find that 12 cupckaes will bake for about 20 minutes on 350 for me but it depends on your oven.


OT, but do yall bake cupcakes at 350 or at 325, like cakes?


Are you using a scratch recipe or cake mix? The mixes will tell you on the back of the box. If it's scratch just use the same recipe and do a few test ones first in your oven.


Also, if you use a cookie scoop to fill your cupcake papers, you will be able to be more consistent on how your cupcakes look . . . rise about the same, etc.
