I need some ideas for a b-day cake for a single girl who is turning 31. She is very trendy and sassy and outgoing! I haven't had much luck with fondant, so something with buttercream. Thanks for your help!!

Black and white?

Black, hot pink and white?

Something with dots?

Ooh, how about one of those purse cakes? If she's trendy, she would probably like that.

Or the Tiffany box cake?

Does she have any specific interests that you know of?

I really like the look of the chocolate and pink buttercream together. Something about that pink and brown that is classy and so cool. I will see if I can find any pictures.

Those are great ideas...she does love brown and a turquoise/blue. I want something fun that catches the eye!

How did you make the pink so bright and smooth? It looks great on the cake!

Thanks for the suggestions!

There is a two-tiered cake in the photo gallery (under colors, blue) that is turquoise and brown, based off of a striped ribbon that is at the bottom of both layers. FWIW, I saw the same ribbon at JoAnn's and it's awfully cute.

I recently made a purse cake, and it went over really well. It was for a 16th birthday, but it was trendy. I used a design similar to that of coach, and everything else was buttercream. I think you can see the picture on my profile, otherwise, it's under birthday cakes, if you search purse cake. It was pretty simple, and think it would work well with the turquoises and browns.
