Kindergarten Graduation Cake - Help!!!
Decorating By MicheleF Updated 31 May 2006 , 6:03pm by Kimanalynn

I am making a cake for my son's kindergarten graduation ceremony. Again this is a cake that will be taken to school for EVERYONE to see. Not a cake for the party I'm planning at my house. I have searched through all the graduation pics with nothing catching my eye. They are for seniors graduating. I want to do a tiered cake with more of a juvenial theme. However, I don't really want to use primary colors on the cake because I think that will make it too gaudy. Do you agree or not?? Any ideas or suggestions??
Thanks,
Michele

I'm also doing a cake for my son's kindergarten graduation. I was thinking of doing a sheet cake with a graduation cap on it surround by diplomas with each child's name on it and the borders done in school colors.

Hi Michele,
I agree with the "gaudy look of primary colors". Are you doing a round or square tier, or both? (or have you even thought about that?) How about icing your cakes with an ivory or white and then using a deep blue or burgundy color as accents? You could do a graduation cap with the tassel out of fondant (either color) as a topper. You could use the same color(s) and make "ABC" & "123" fondant letters/numbers and put them on the sides of the cake with a cool border of some kind. Maybe this idea would spawn additional ideas for you! Hope I helped!! Elly

Here's some ideas

Hi there, when my som graduated from kindergarten. I'm not sure if it was store bought or homebaked, anyhow it was a sheet cake with the schools mascott on there. (A Bee) The school's name was Birney Elementary. So we were the Birney Bees. It was really cute. I don't remember what the saying was on the cake it was so long ago, but I do remember thinking Wow what a great idea.

SO, what did you finally decide to do for the cake? I am looking for ideas, too.

I think a tiered cake would be awesome for Kindergarten graduation....maybe with some little fondant chalk boards on the sides , some pencils, books, even crayons and glue...would be so adorable. Maybe even write on the front of the tiers or have a bigger chalk board for the topper that says First grade here we come!!

I've seen a cake that I intend to do if any school my kids go to do kindergarten graduation.... it's a sheet cake with a green top (like a chalkboard) and ABC 123 apples on it. then it has lines like the paper they use (with dashes in the middle) that says Congratulations Graduates on it and I have seen the same cake with a few backword letters on it I will see if I can find it..........
here it is... I found it on sugarcraft.com
of course you can change the colors, but I like the primary colors...however yes they can be gawdy.... change things about this cake, I know I will.......

I didn't see a picture of a graduation cake? Unless you haven't posted it yet?
