Has Anyone Ever Tried The Whipped Icing From Sam's Club?

I use it quite a bit. The cakes in my gallery with whipped icing have Rich's.
It doesn't get it smooth like BC, and it doesn't crust. It's very much like stabilized whipped cream, but you can do flowers and borders with it. If you do a search for "Rich's" or "bettercreme" "bettercream" you will find many posts about how to work with it.

Where do you find this at Sam's. I was there the other day and specifically looked for it and couldn't find it!

This is my experience with it:
It is not sold in the regular part of the store, you have to ask for it from the bake shop. At the one I go to, I call ahead. Sometimes they cannot spare it because it's their decorating supply they are selling to you. If you need it near any major holidays or seasonal events like graduation or superbowl, make sure you get call ahead and have them set it aside for you with your name on it. Also, make sure you specify you want it FROZEN, not what they have already defrosted.
It comes in 15 gallon buckets, but once you get it home, you can divide it into smaller containers to fit into your freezer. It will last 1 year frozen, about 2 weeks defrosted (so they say, but I think it will last a little longer).

I presently work at a my local grocery store and I love frosting the cakes in Bettercreme. The Chocolate Bettercreme almost smells like custard, and it is not as sweet and the normal Powered Sugar Frosting. I love the taste of the Bettercreme it just tastes light. I am going to have to checkout my local Sam's club to see if they sell it in the bigger tubs.
I just called my local Sam's club and they said that it is about $26 for a bucket, and they have it is white and chocolate.

I buy it all the time. You get a huge tub of it for $20. It tastes wonderfully. You need to portion it out though & freeze it for storage. It freezes perfectly. Also, I mix this with different filling & it is wonderful. It isn't my favorite decorating frosting though, it tends to get airy. But, it is PERFECT for fillings, simple cakes, & frosting cupcakes. I have even mixed it with buttercream before (I had major issues & was desperate) & it tastes great too.

You know, I can not get my Sams Club to sell me a damn thing! I am so frustrated with them! I walked in this morning and asked to purchase FOUR clam shells to hold cupcakes...and the chick looked at me like I was insane..."we don't sell those lady" was her response! And even when I talked to the manager...she said the same thing. I can understand my request could put them in a bind if I had needed a case or something...BUT I ASKED TO PURCHASE FOUR!
I am seriously thinking about asking for the $$ back I paid for my membership...I can order anything I need from Walmart in bulk and they are great about it...even take it to my van when they have time.

Hello pamelan and smegg, I am in Carrollton and would love to try Bettercreme also please let me which Sams you found it at. Also heve you heard of Cake Carrousel in Richardosn? I just took my first class there and they are just wonderful!

Is the Rich's bettercream in a liquid for or is it ready to use?
The Walmart here uses the Dawn brand. It comes in a huge milk carton and you just pour what you need into the mixer and whip it up. It tastes good, and works great for icing and decorating. I am not sure if this is the one that the Sam's in the Houston area are using anymore or not.
Before I knew you could buy there buttercream and whipped icing, I had to go threw Dawn themselves. They allow your first order with out a Tax ID and will only ship if there is a minimum order (can't remember how much). I really liked there buttercream also. It came in a ready to use tub, or a block that you added water to what you needed. Both Walmart & Sam's used to use this brand, but I don't think they do anymore.

I'm in Houston. I've tried Sams Club in the Woodlands and this morning on Airtex and I-45. Where are you?

I'm in San Antonio, think I'll try my Sam's tomorrow. I've been looking for a good whipped icing.

It's about $22.00 in NY. I can get the bettercreme from Sam's but one time I asked for some cake boxes (the clear dome ones) and same thing..like I was crazy or something. I read on here that some CCers get them there all the time. So the bakery lady went to her manager and he said no, but let me have 4 for free. They recommended that I go to party supply store down the road, which btw..didn't have anything like what I needed.

Wow.......I went to a local party supply store that carried both the white and chocolate bettercremes and I bought a quart for $5.99. I know I'm crazy but I saw it and got excited. This was also before I saw how much you pay at Sam's for a whole Tub of it. That supply store is way over priced.......really taking advantage of poor little old me.

i dont know how well trained the peopleare your guys sams clubs are but the reason they looked at you funny is you cant buy just a few it has to be the entire case. and i think there are a few that aren allowed to do it. next time go in there and ask to see a list of everything you can buy in bulk tell them that you know you can buy their stuff cuz other people do it.

this past weekend I went to Sam's club here in south jersey and bought a 28lb bucket of buttercream for $26.56, I just ask the lady at the bakery and she say "yes, sure" with no problem. I decorated 4 big cakes and used it all, the BUtter cream icing is kind of whipped. does not need to be refregerated, easy to work with, tasted good but 2 things I didn't like are, it doesn't tint deep colors and smell kind of funny like medecine but then I got used to it, I will defenetly use it again when I have big orders for now I'll keep doing my own Icing.
