I want to make a 3D elmo sitting on a cake like I saw in a picture. The lasy who ordered wants to keep the Elmo, so I thought I'd make him from rice krispies and royal icing...

has anyone molded with rice krispies before and have tips or tricks??

and is there a certain recipe I should follow??

TIA!

I"ve only molded RC a few times, but found out the hard way, let them cool to room temp before doing any shaping. When it's warm it will just be gooey. I also spray my hands w/ Pam. Also use a little less MM and a bit more RC for detailed molding. So it won't spread when unmolded.

I would let it cool enough to be able to handle but not completely. It will be impossible to mold after it has completely cooled and the marshmallow has hardened.

depending on how big you want elmo - you may need to make an armature out of tin foil - or a coat hanger - I agree with less marshmallow (for scultping I use the 10 oz bag to 6 cups crispies instead of the 16 ox bag) - if it gets too cool to mold with you can warm it up in the mocrowave to make it more workable - it also needs to be packed pretty dense - let it dry at least overnight at room temp before coving in any icing - that way any shifting that might occur will have already....
