Some people use their mixer and dough hooks to mix to do it. Personally, I prefer to add my color and knead and stretch my fondant.

If its mmf, I do it right after I take the marshmallows out of the microwave, when its all warm and easy to stir!
I've only colored the wilton by hand.

Ditto on the MMF advice. When I use Satin ice...I knead wilton gel colors in by hand. If I notice that Wilton fondant has gotten anywhere near my person.....I grab it and run to the trash can......don't color it....DISPOSE OF IT.

I wouldn't put it in the mixer... it may change the consistency too much, add the colour and knead by hand. I find that liquid or paste colours work best... some brands of fondant require lots of kneading and some very little, it is important to follow this instruction as otherwise you may develop stretch and crack problems..

I knead the colour by hand doesn't take too long and depending on the colour I use plastic gloves so I don't have coloured hands too..lol
