I know it's not a cake, but it is made in a bundt pan so it's kinda like a cake.
Anyway, I wanna make one for my co-workers before I go on vacation. I don't have a bundt pan and most likely won't get one in time. Can I make it in a regular cake pan or springform pan?

You can make that in any pan. I use a pyrex cassarole dish which works great. Adjust the cooking time accordingly for the size of the pan. A springfoam pan may be shallow so watch for over cooking.

I love monkey bread, I have never done it in anything but a bundt pan but in a way I really don't see why you couldn't do it in another pan. I wouldd say give it a whirl. Goodluck.

Monkey bread is similar to sticky bread. It's made with store bought biscuit dough. It's rolled up into balls and covered with cinnamon sugar and a syrup. And you can add whatever you want: nuts, chocolate chips, dried fruits.
Then there's gorilla bread. Same thing except there is a cube of cream cheese inside the biscuits.
You can can do a google for monkey bread or gorilla bread to find the recipe. The one I'm going to use is on the food network website under sugar rush. The episode came on this past saturday.

Monkey bread is a pull apart bread consisting of smalls balls of sweet bread dough layered with cinnamon, sugar, butter, and sometimes other ingredients like brown sugar, nuts, etc. Depends on the specific recipe you are using. It is a wonderful gooey sweet treat my family and friends love.

However, our favorite is called "Gorilla Bread". It also has cream cheese in it and oh my gosh is it delicious!

i've always called them monkey balls, but i guess it's the same thing:

Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cans (16.3 oz each) Pillsbury Grands buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, if desired
1/2 cup raisins, if desired
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Directions
1 . Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 12-cup fluted tube pan.
2 . In large plastic food-storage bag, mix sugar and cinnamon. Separate dough into 16 biscuits; cut each into quarters. Shake in bag to coat. Arrange in pan, adding walnuts and raisins among the biscuit pieces.
3 . Mix brown sugar and butter; pour over biscuit pieces.
4 . Bake 28 to 32 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy in center. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Turn upside down onto serving plate; pull apart to serve. Serve warm.

i've also made it with chopped apples and apple jelly, and all sorts of other variations. they are sooooo good!

I would love to have the recipe for Monkey Bread and the Gorilla version!

My mom used to make it until my sister cleaned house and threw away the cookbook with the recipe. She said it was old. Go figure!!

Anyway, I make breakfast every Sunday morning for my Sunday School class and Monkey Bread would be perfect!!

Thanks in advance.

kraftfoods.com should have their version on line. Their easy monkey bread has the creamcheese in the balls of bread. VERY easy. I get their free magazine a couple of times a year--GREAT recipes.

I dont' own a bundt pan, but I use a regular round pan with a small soup can or tomato paste can in the center. This helps prevent the center from being soggy.

Tip: When turning the pan upside down to get the bread out, we flip it on top of a cooling rack that has wax paper underneath to catch the dripping syrup. Way less mess to clean!
