Does anyone know what recipe would be the same as the filling that the stores use for like their cream horns? I'm looking for something even like what a doughnut shop uses in their doughnuts, I'm not sure what it's called lol, but I need a recipe that wouldn't call for it to be put in the fridge. Thanks in advance!!

I have been looking for this recipe for about 12 years-lol. I hope someone gives it to you. I have never had any luck. I wish you the best.

It tastes a lot like snow white buttercream to me. (The Wilton recipe, even) In fact we have a small donut place here that even calls their cream-filled donuts and creme horns white-icing filled! And honey baby! I could eat 3 or 4!!!!

I thought this said "cream corn" filling....I was coming in to see who in the world would order such a thing!!!

I just did a Google search on cream horn filling and found a number of recipes. You would just have to try some out to see how they taste.
Some of the sites were:
www.recipecottage.com
www.recipezaar.com - they had one called 'warm weather cream horn filling'
www.cooks.com
There were more out there that you could check out.

OMG, cream CORN filling, you had me double checking there for a minute, thought I asked for the wrong thing LOL.
fancylayne23 I haven't checked the sites yet, but it looks like crp7 may have found an answer to our question lol Thanks crp7, I'll be sure to let you know if any of them work and how good they are!!
dsoutherngirl, you got me to thinking that maybe I could just ask at one of the doughnut shops, wonder if they would tell you what exactly it is that they use? Unless it's an old family secret recipe lol Is the snow white buttercream icing the recipe that calls for all shortening instead of half butter and half shortening? If so, that's the recipe that I use, and if that's it, what I'm looking for is a more fluffier consistency then the icing. I wonder if that is what your bakery uses in theirs

Just found this one..
3/4 c Whipping cream
3 tb Powdered sugar
Combine whipping cream and powdered sugar; beat at high
speed of an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Spoon
whipped cream into a decorating bag fitted with metal tip
No. 4B. Pipe whipped cream into pastry horns.

Wow! It doesn't sound like it could get any easier then that!! oh, did the recipe say if it would have to be kept in the fridge? I mean, whatever you would fill with that, would you have to keep it in the fridge since it has the whipping cream in it?

No it does not say anything about that, but with the amount of dairy.. I would guess you might not want to keep it out in direct heat for long.

yeah, that's what I was thinking. There has to be something that can be kept out, I mean, the stores and bakeries don't keep their cream horns in the fridge lol

I'll try the recipe and see how it is. Whipped cream does not do well outside of the fridge for long, but with the sugar, it might change. My mom loves cream horns, so I am sure she would love it if I tried making them for her. I'll let you know how they turn out when I am done.

Great!! Yes, be sure and let me know how it turns out. I bet your Mom WILL appreciate that! My Mom expects a cake for every single holiday now, actually, she expects one everytime I come to visit, it doesn't even have to be a special occasion anymore lol!

The rest of my family think I am moms fave as it is. so this will only make it even more so..

My husband loves cream horns to! We have a wonder bread bakery right around the corner from our house and they sell those there. If I send him up to buy bread, I have to make sure he ONLY has a certain amount of money with him, just enough for the bread, he can't be trusted, you should see the stuff he comes back home with!!! LOL

That just made me think of the last time my dad was in town visiting and went to the bakery with my husband. They were giving away free loaves of bread that day for some reason, and my dad told them that he had 6 kids at home!!!! OMG, he came back with TWELVE loaves of bread! My father is a REAL joker, anyone who ever meets him has never forgotten him that's for sure LOL

LOL.. I use to live down the road from a Hostess Shop.. LOL So I SOOO know what you mean.. hehehe..
12 loaves.. OMG.. Did you feed all the kids on the block? LOL

I know, I was shocked when he came through the door with all that bread LOL, I asked him what in the world I was going to do with that much and he said to freeze it lol. It was a good laugh around my house for awhile, everytime one of my boys would ask us what's for dinner, the answer would be, whatever it is, it's going to be on BREAD LOL

Oh I am going to try these recipes. I hope I find the one. I'm glad this question was asked-lol. Should of known CC would know.

I'm going to try them to, we'll have to keep everyone informed
