I am making platters of spring/easter cookies. Usually I just wrap my individual cookies in cello bags and tie them with ribbon, but I won't need to do that this time because they'll be in a covered tray. To dress it up I wanted to put either Easter grass or colored paper shreds on the tray under the cookies. Has anyone done this? Would it be considered "food safe"? I can't find anything on the packages that would say... Help!
Thank you!!

I'm not sure about them being food safe, but yesterday I was at my local cake supply store and they were selling edible "grass" it came it a couple of different spring colors and fruit flavors...just thought I would i would let you know your options if you can't use the other stuff.

Kids eat candy burried in this grass (jelly beans, etc.) in their baskets. But, you could always contact the company if you're worried.

I was also going to mention dying coconut! Great minds think alike.
I have to agree though, think of all the millions of children over the years that have eaten candy out of that plastic grass!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! You all have a great point about kids eating candy that has been burried in the plastic grass! I think I'll give it a try.

target sells the edible grass also. it's kinda like dyed rice paper. looks like real easter grass
