I just purchased Betty Crocker color gels just to see how they would do coloring bc icing. It says on the label it won't mess up the most delicate icing mix. Just wanted to know if anyone had tried them on not only bc but royal icing as well. I normally use the Wilton colors but was just curious?????? Thanks.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Are they the tube gels, 4 in a pack? I bought some and ended up using almost the whole tube of red to get pink. The same with the other colors. They are great for pastel colors and they didn't thin the frosting.

I didn't use them in royal, but I am positive that it would be ok. I don't see why they would hurt anything. Anyone else?

Betty Crocker sells gel food colors--4 easy to use tubes. They aren't the tubes that are individual for writing it is food coloring--really! icon_surprised.gif I bought them once and haven't been able to find them again.

Well-they work great in royal icing-took me about 1/2 a tube to color about 1 cup. My daffodils look great! I purchased them at Walmart in the cake aisle. They also had a set of four neon colors. It did not seem to add a different taste either! I guess they are less expensive than Wilton colors and easier to add as far as squeezing the tube in, but less variety and don't last as long...... icon_smile.gif
