I am making my sisters bridal shower cakes and would like to incorpate her flowers on them. The two flowers are Carnations and Snap Dragons. I cannot find a book or any information on the internet on how to make Snap Dragons out of icing? Can anyone help me?

I've never used gumpaste but the problem is, I can't figure out tips and the how to's of creating the flower itself?? I even went to my local cake product store where I took my basic and advanced decorating classes and the owner and I tried for about 20-30 minutes to figure out how to make one?? Can anyone help?

IMPOSSIBLE! I know that sounds negative, but I didn't know what snapdragons were, so I googled some images. I couldn't begin to figure out how to make them! Here are a couple of pictures of REAL snapdragons, not icing. Good luck, I hope somebody answers you.

Alan Dunn's book "Sugar Flowers for all Seasons" has how to do snap dragons in it. He uses a cutter but there is an all in one piece of gumpaste that he uses for the bottom petal (weird shaped kind of like a normal flower petal shape with 2 v shapes cut out of either side sort of near the middle an instead of being rounded aross the top it has 3 rounded bumps) and and there are 2 pieces that he uses for the top petals (sort of like a heart shape with a slightly rounded bottom instead of point).

He thins and frills out the top parts of the petals and with the bottom petal he pinches the edges of the V shaped bits together to give it that snap dragon shape. He uses the bottom part of the petals to attach all the bits together and to a very small sausage shape on a wire which goes in the middle of the petals but you don't really see it (if that makes sense)

I haven't ever tried these before but his finished product does look amazing.
