I am doing a dinosaur cake - very similar to the one in the Debbie Brown book. I need a smash cake to go with it...any ideas?

I could do a dino out of the mini-bear, but thought it would be odd - 2 dinos. Or my other thought was a dino egg...

I'd love to hear your ideas!

I like the dino egg idea. That would be very cute.

My first thought when I saw the subject of the thread was a dinosaur egg! icon_smile.gif Or maybe a "dino bone"? My Hubby's suggestion was a volcano.

Thank you so much for the ideas! I'm kind of leaning towards the egg idea...but I'm trying to keep an open mind! LOL

it would be cool to use icing and pipe a crack into the egg, maybe before you frost it (is this kid little-little?) you could place a small plastic dino inside the egg for a little surprise- unless of course its a choking hazard if its a young child.

A cute idea is a egg with 2 arms or legs sticking out the shell

You could use a sports ball mold (2 parts) or the egg mold (2 parts). if they are too big maybe a small sport ball and put together 2 of them? them trim them on the sides to get that egg shape... this is perfect if you are going for a 3d effect.. if not just bake a 5 o 4" cake and trim off the sides and build up the base and top, cover with mmf or bc and add legs or arms made out of mmf...
I am soo excited for your proyect!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

I just did a dinosaur cake for my son's 1st birthday. I didn't make a seperate smash cake, so i just gave him the volcano from the top layer. It was quite a sight to see (as you can see from my avatar!) all the pics are in my album!

Good luck!

Well, I didn't do the smash cake I had wanted. I REALLY wanted to do the one with the arms and legs comingout of the shell, but due to other obligations, I had to stick with the easiest one, which turned out to be a nest with eggs in it.

Here is the final outcome!
