I'm going to use an edible image for the first time on my fathers 70th birthday cake next week. I'm actually planning on putting the image onto a NFSC to use to decorate the cake. My question is, how do I attach the image to the cookie? Kayro syrup? I don't want the paper to get saturated.
Also, if I change my mind and just place the image directly onto the buttercream do I need to do anything special so that the grease doesn't ruin the image?
I've only got one shot at this since my local bakery will be printing the images for me!
Thanks.

I just had another idea - I think that putting the images on fondant would work better. I'm trying to make postcards with edible images. If I cut a rectangle out of fondant and then put the image on top that would work much better than a cookie. But still, I'm not sure how to attach.
Please help!

i have never attached an image to a NFSC but I do put them on cakes a lot. all you have to do it just peel it off the backing and lay it on the cake. I usually do it the night before and have never had a problem. Hope this helps.

I have attached the image to fondant with a little piping gel - I am sure that corn syrup would work too. I have also put the image on fondant and then on a cookie and used a very thin layer of buttercream icing to attach the fondant to the cookie. If you put the image on the cake just peel off the back and lightly press it where you want it. The grease from the icing will not hurt the image. Hope this is not too confusing and good luck!

Put the image in the freezer, but only for a few seconds. The backing will peel right off leaving a sticky surface, attach directly to the iced cake or onto a piece of dried fondant or gumpaste. If you forget and leave it too long in the freezer the stickiness dries up and it won't attach well. All is not lost, paint thin layer of clear corn syrup thinned with a tiny bit of water onto the dried gumpaste and then lay the image down.

I just recently did this, we attached several edible images onto fondant with just a border of decorator's icing around the edge, and then just placed it on the cake. The cake is in my photos.
