I'm so clueless here. I don't even know where to begin. Any help is welcomed! TIA!!!!

Welcome to Cake Central. There is a wealth of information here in the forums. If you use the search button, and search fish and limit your search to the title, and in the 'how do i' forum, there are a number of threads describing how to carve and decorate a fish.
Good luck.

look on the first page of my photos., i made a cat fish, but same concept (just adjust it to a bass- look at a real photo for that) ...i used a 9x13 and turned it at an angle (to get a longer shape) and just carved out an oval but more pointed ends- then covered in fondant and added fondant fins, tail etc...dry dusted with luster colors. i used the back of an icing tip to make the scales and a fork to pull the fins. very easy.very wow at a party!

Here is the link to another post about making a large mouth bass. I thought you were reading the other post when you PMed me. Sorry!!

I posted my instructions of how I made mine. Hope this helps.

In one of Colette Peter's Books, she details how to make a fish cake. I don't know one fish from another, but I'm sure you could adjust it to look like a bass. I think it is her first one, Colette's Cakes. Check it out. Good Luck!

I'm desperate my grandson wants a trout cake for his birthday please help!! It also has to able to travel a long distance

Well I finished the trout fish cake & it looks really good as soon as I figure out how to post pictures,I will . Also I've completed a few other cakes that I would love some feedback on. Thank for the help.

AI just made a striped bass last week--it is in my photos-- I carved a 9x13 covered in ganache- getting the shape and scale was a little challenging-- I was not doing well at first-- then it came to me-- I. Built up the mouth with RKT and shaped fondant to create depth, big lips and and eye socket--covered the ganached cake with the shaped fondant with LMF fondant-- hand dusted and painted- gumpaste fins
Honestly, once the light bulb went on on how to proceed it was smooth sailing after that-
Hope that helped :)
