Sam's Or Costco Or Bj's - Oh My!

I've let my BJs membership expire and I'm wondering if maybe I should join somewhere else. I'm not thrilled w/ BJs, but it's the closest (a little over an hour away) while Sam's & Costco are about 1 1/2 hrs. I belonged to Sam's years ago when we lived elsewhere and I thought they had a nicer selection of things. Can you get things like Bettercreme or Pastry Pride at Sam's or Costco? Which is your favorite wholesale club?

We choose a club almost solely on location, which is Costco. I like it a lot for its variety and cleanliness. There is a Sam's not far but it is in a terrible parking lot and I think Walmart gets too much money from people as it is now. The BJ's near me now is a bit dirty and is very small so I don't like this one at all. I've heard the BJ's near where I hope to move is nicer and larger, so that is where we'll probably end up. If we don't like that, then Costco it shall be again.

I've never been to BJs but we are part of Costco and Sam's. To me costco is 100 times better. We got some things from Sam;s that you can;t get from Costco ,but Costco has so much more and the quality is noticibly better. I got bulk flour and sugar from them and it was really good stuff. The sam;s club here looks dirty to me to.

beachcakes I don't care for Sam's club because I HATE WAL-MART, But I do have a membership at BJ's and Costco. I like both of them. BJ's have things that Costco don't have and visa versa. I shop at both fro different things. It also depends on the couponds. I shop around at both.
I am always looking for Bettercreme or Pastry Pride at BJ's and can NEVER seem to find it. Where do you find it.

unfortunately I belong to BJ's because Costco is an hour away (vs. 20 minutes). I've done comparison shopping between Sam's and BJ's and BJ's is cheaper and had a better selection. However, that being said if Costco was closer I'd join them in a heartbeat!

Thanks guys! Maybe I'll give costco a try this time around.
Twindees, I've never seen Pastry Pride or Bettercreme anywhere locally, but that doesn't surprise me - I'm way out on L.I. I thought I had read on here that some people were able to find it at the wholesale clubs, since they also sell decorated cakes. I think you can get it from www.sugarcraft.com ? I just wanted to try it!! LOL

We belong to Sam's and BJ's because they are both close and they carry different items that we use. Both the Sam's and BJ's are new clubs so they are big and clean. We had a Costco membership but let it lapse because they didn't carry the items we used regularly. I've never seen the Pastry Pride or other item that you mentioned at either club.
Just my two cents worth!

Of all of those, BJs is the only place that will take coupons
I 've had memberships to all three and finally just kept my BJs one. Prices seem to be about the same and it's also the closest one to my house.

I've been to the local Costco store. My question is do I have to ask them where the buttercream is at because I have looked thinking it would be in plain site. (i have never asked) And is it a Costco brand or go by another name?

I say Costco too. I am tired of walmart (sams).

From what i understand, it's in the freezer. It's in a milk carton. http://richs.com/foodservice_products_1.asp

I have a membership to Sams and BJs. My Sam's is getting ready to expire end of this month and I am thinking of not renewing. I have had it for over 16 years. I love their meat but I am getting tired of the store. You buy something one time and then go to replace it when you run out and they don't carry it anymore. But, Sams is like 7 minutes away and BJ's is at least 30.
BJ's takes coupons and Sam's doesn't. I guess it just depends on the area too, as to which is better.
Wish I could be more help but I am still debating on that one myself. Costco is not an option here.

I just recently asked at Sams in the bakery department did they sell their bettercream and buttercream and she told me they do but by the bucket only. The price of the whipped was like $24.00 and the buttercream was like $42.00. I dint buy any thou, I have never tried their buttercream and I wasnt sure if I would like it or not.
I was thinking that I could get a 3 or 5 gallon bucket (new and washed of course, lol ) and make up a bunch of buttercream NOT using the butter recipe and put the icing in the bucket and keep the lid sealed. Has anyone ever tried that to see how long the icing would last in the bucket?

I am one of the lucky few that lives 5 minutes from Cosco's and about 7 min from BJ's. So, we go to both because they both have different things that we use...and yes, BJ's does take coupons which is great!! Not a Sam's Club fan.
