Does anyone have a great recipe for a wedding cake and willing to share?
As much as I love my DH white cake mixes, the texture is just too fluffy. I need a more dense cake.
Are most wedding cakes made from pound cake?

My favorite cake is the White Almond Sour Cream cake. It starts with the cake mix, but with all the additions, it is much more dense and has a wonderful texture and flavor. I think it would make a great wedding cake.

I have also done the white cake from Whimsical Bakehouse book and it is a great recipe too.

I agree with steady and Cindy-- the sour cream cake or the extender recipe are both firm, dense, moist and tasty.

I use the White Almond Sour Cream recipe and add the simple syrup to it. It tastes great and very moist.

My 2 favorite white cake recipes are-

White almond sour cream cake, as many have suggested, icon_smile.gif and
A Better White Cake in the recipe section.

Both cakes make the perfect texture and taste to work with. And they are moist.

Hope that helped!

I have to agree about the Better White Cake recipe. I tried it last weekend for my moms birthday cake. It was my first time making a cake from scratch so I was really nervous. It turned out great and the texture was what I had always been looking for. Can't wait to try experimenting using it as a base for other flavors... Goodbye box mixes!!
