I need to buy some cake boxes and someone on here mentioned that they buy them from Paper Mart. I just looked and they sell them by the case. So if I am going to spend that much money for some boxes I don't want to buy the wrong size. What is the best size to buy?

Thanks,

What sized cakes do you make the most often and what sized cake boards do you put them on? You want to buy the cake boxes that are closest in size to the cake boards. If you make mostly sheet cakes, say 9x13 or 11x15, buy the size that is closest to the boards you would normally put these cakes on. Make sure the depth will accomodate the height of your cakes too.
For example, I make mostly 10 inch round cakes and put them on either 12 or 14 inch round boards so I would purchase boxes in 12 or 14 inch square sizes.
For stacked cakes, I buy boxes from moving companies. I find that three tiered small cakes are popular now for birthdays so I buy 12 inch square boxes of 12 inches high that can have the depth adjusted. For the larger heavier stacked cakes, I buy double-walled moving boxes which are sturdier than regular boxes.
The size you need will be determined by the size of cakes that your customers order the most often.

Thanks! I'm so glad I asked. I never thought of any of these things. There's no telling what I would have gotten LOL

Wilton carries cake boxes now too. You should be able to find them at Michaels (ours carries them) or Hobby Lobby.

Also check your area for a paper/box supplier. I have find them at a company here that sell boxes for moving and all kinda of other paper products.
