I Was Asked. "can I Get A Costco Size Cake"

Well I think everyone around here is so use to the serving amount of a costco cake that is how they decide how much cake to get. Well I am not sure of the size they make. Is it A 12x18 or a 11x15.

I'd just call Costco & act as if I was going to order a cake, and then ask them what size it is....lol. Then tell them you'll think about it and call them back icon_surprised.gificon_razz.gif

I'm pretty sure that Costco cakes are 11x15. icon_biggrin.gif

Well costco just tells me the number that they say is should serve depending on how you cut it. So that was no help but thanks for the idea.

Our town only has a small wallyworld. No bakery in it.

if they bake on full sheets and cut their halfs and 1/4s then the full is 24x16, half is 12x16 and 1/4 is 8x12. but dont they get their cakes in frozen in a cardboard box?

Most places like that make 1/4 & 1/2 sheet cakes. Around here they also make a full sheet cake. I would call them back and ask what size their servings are. If they tell you a 2 x 2 x 2 in square then it should be easier to try to figure the size by how many pieces they say their cakes will serve.

I used to work at Costco, not in the bakery but they do only do half sheet cakes. Generally they say it will feed 30-40 people but it depends how you cut it. They are a good size. The cakes are made there and frozen then decorated.

sweetcakes you are so right. wllyworld gets their cakes in those dispicable cardboard boxes and the boxes are what they base the cake size on. Neverthe less though, there is ALWAYS some shrinkage in the cakes so the size is never ever the same (why i don't even get cakes from my own bakery) (omg, did i say that) well heck, i like other flavors besides vanilla, chocolate or marble. and I don't like the buttercream and the whipped lately has been totally horrid. yuck (omg, this site has made me a total cake snob. LOL) hehehehehe.

addendem:
btw that's what we tell customers is the 2x2 slice and that a quarter sheet will serve 20-24 half sheet 40-48 and a full sheet 90-96.
p.p.s. another btw. the price of cakes have also gone up too around a coupla bucks per cake.

A costco cake is 16x24 I have worked as a decorator in costco for 5 years
and the size has not changed. Hope this helps thumbs_up.gif

Maybe I am reading this wrong but a 16 x 24 would be a full sheet cake and if that is correct then that size would feed 96 not 48 2in x 2in pieces. Did you mean to type the half sheet cake was 16 x 12 because that would serve 48 pieces? I am still trying to figure all this out myself, LOL!!
