option...

find clip art of a dog bone (check out MS offices clip art for example)

enlarge to size need...

print out, cut out,

use as template to carve a sheet cake to shape.

then have at icing it or covering it in fondant.

Try Target.com . . . they have dog bone shaped pans! I have both sizes and the muffin pans as well.

Good luck!

I am making one for my daughter's birthday in June. Check out the one done by mbalis or do dog bone search. She used 2 heart pans and an 8X8 cake pan-she cut the tips of the hearts off to make each end of the bone. Good luck- icon_wink.gif

I think if it does not need to be very big you could probably use a loaf pan and 4 cupcakes

I also used an 8" square for the middle and 2 hearts for the ends. It was really easy and gave us something to snack on when we cut the ends of the hearts off thumbs_up.gif

I made one by cutting a sheet cake in half, and stacking the two halves on top of each other - and then putting 2 small round cakes on each end. Mine was large (a half sheet with 4 - 6" rounds), but I don't see why you couldn't do the same thing smaller.

I have a picture of a dog bone cake in my photos. I simply used a stacked 9x13 and cut into the shape. I then used a biscuit cutter to make the "bite marks". I lined the edges with "Scoobie Snacks" (Keebler graham cracker snacks). HTH!

I have made several of these, my kids go to Smyrna High and our mascot is a bulldog. Actually I even made two of these for our football team. Look in my pics under back to school, it is purple and gold. I make them by using hearts on both ends and a sheet cake in the middle. This is the easiest way, because you just line them up and trim a little of the cake off. It is actually my favorite and most popular cake. If you have any questions, just pm me. Good luck and post pics
