Is There A Difference In Food Coloring Gels?

Hi all,
I bought some Betty Crocker food coloring gel because I loved the bright neon colors but, havent used this product before. I have the Wilton and CC brands and was wondering if there is a real difference in the gels as far as quality? Have any of you tried Betty Crocker brands? The bright neon colors are so pretty but, I dont want to ruin my icing...lol...it takes forever to make. Any thoughts?

I'm interested in this too. I've heard great things about chef Master. The lady at my local cake and candy shop said she didn't know much about Americolor because it was a lot newer. She said Wilton has been trying to catch up with Chef Master for ages. But, even she mentioned that everything but the red red (in chef master) came up with funny colors. I've heard that the Americolor's Super Red is incredible for giving a great deep, true red. For me, I can only get Wilton to make pretty pastels without using a whole jar of it. I read somewhere it takes a whole jar of Wilton's red to turn 1 cup of buttercream a good red and then you can taste it (unless using the no taste red supposedly). Apparently, that doesn't happen with the Chef master red red. Hope that helps, but I hope someone else has more information.

Thanks, for the help!! Yes, Wilton's red is terrible for coloring and it taste awful!! I have been on a mission to find red gel that does not take a tube to color the icing red and actually taste good. I will keep on checking and post what I find!!
Thanks!

For the ladies that have used red gel are there any that taste ok, or, at least better than wiltons, lol.

I also use Americolor and Wilton. I believe that I get deeper colors with less Americolor. It seems to go much farther and I love the convenience of the sqeeze bottle. It also seems to give me more control for how much I am adding. Sometimes with Wilton I will dip too little or too much. I hate to just keep adding and adding.
I've tried the pastes that they sell at Williams Sonoma and they work very well too! These are a little pricier than the Americolor, but someone gave them to me for Christmas last year.
When you try the Betty Crocker, let us know!

Ok, great, I will try the Americolor and see about that red...I cant wait to try the Betty Crocker ones...I will let you know how it turns out,
Thanks!!
