I have a birthday coming up (Hey Dodibug, we share one! I'd add mine to my profile but it keeps saying that 01-31-1975 is in the wrong syntax)...
Anyway do you bakers ever get cake or a variation thereof for your birthday? I have to beg dh for ice cream cake or I don't get one LOL... This year I asked him if he was gonna get me one and he was like "I don't know, you never make ME one"...(because his birthday is a week after my oldest sons and we are still eating cake by dh's birthday! Then a few weeks later gotta make my second son HIS cake... Guess I should still make dh one though...) I can't complain as dh took me to Ruth's Chris last year to eat BUT it would be fun to have someone surprise a cake decorator with some sort of birthday cake, cookie, whatever, something that says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" on it!!!!!!!!

I can't say I ever get a cake either for my birthday.... everyone in my family knows that I make them, yet no one makes me one?? What's up with that?? lol I do hope they don't think I wouldn't enjoy their cakes or would be critcal of it in any way at all, because I wouldn't! But it would be nice to have a b-day cake on my birthday.. lol

i have to say i dont get a cake either....but if i where to get a cake it would come from the grocery store, and i'd rather not even have that....i tell dh just give me the money it would've cost....then i take my money to micheals and buy cake making stuff. haha
happy birthday!

My mom is the official cake baker for the family, and makes a cake for every single person (which when you include every aunt, uncle, cousin, is a LOT of people) every year. She has done this my entire life. Since no one else bakes, my aunts usually get her a cookie cake for her birthday, and she loves the thought. I am making cakes now, but I have a feeling my mom will always make me a cake for my birthday! Its easy though, because my birthday is the day after Christmas, so we will always be home for my birthday.

When we lived in the Soo, Ontario, my next door neighbour shared the same birthday, so we always celebrated together. I made the neighbourhood birthday cakes and I was used to making my own. Well one year he showed up first thing in the morning on our birthday, with a cake he had bought. Bought cake or not, it was such a sweet gesture because he knew I would be up early making our cake and he was trying to save me the trouble. I thought that was so nice of him.
The last couple of years here, my sister has made me my birthday cake, so that is so nice!

My BF did buy me an ice cream cake last year for my bd, and I had a friend make me one a couple years ago. If we go to my BF parents around our birthdays (mine beginning of Aug his end of Aug), his dad usually makes an angel food cake torted and filled with a coffee flavoured whip cream.

Hiya kiddos,
My daughters get together and make me a cake, even though it isn't the pertiest thing in the world it is still the best cakes I have ever seen. (I have four daughters so you can imagine).
Squirrelly, that is soo kewl that your neighbor did that, that is sweet!!!

I really don't like cake that much, but I usually get a store bought one from my husband. If I'm lucky, one of my older daughters will make brownies instead. What I would REALLY like is a pie--apple or blueberry, from scratch--spare me the store bought or the ready made crusts. Or maybe a nice cheesecake.
