I was just at Costco today and saw that they had a huge container of Pastry Pride in their frozen section. Just thought I'd share for those of you looking around for this stuff. This was the kind that you have to whip youself - but you can re-freeze it after you whip it up. So anyone needing Pastry Pride and looking for someplace that sells it, check your local Costco.

I usually get mine at Smart & Final too - but I know there aren't many Smart & Final stores around - especially in other states. And the one at Costco is HUGE - I think it was 8 lbs or something. Definitely good if you use a lot of Pastry Pride.
This wasn't in the dairy section, it was in the frozen section kinda between the ice cream and all the frozen fruits and veggies. I was pretty shocked to see it. But, of course, I didn't check the price on it - I was too busy dealing with a toddler trying to climb out of the cart.

Well, duh, mconrey, you're just up the road from here. I was thinking that it was probably just at specific Costcos in other states, but now I see that it's down here in SD; I'll buy one next next time.
How much is it becky27?
Yeah, can someone tell me what the difference between Rich's and PP is?

I get mine at Smart & Final as well as Cash & Carry. I have a small household refrigerator freezer so I like buying there because you can get it in quarts or half gallons. Quarts are about the perfect size for me but it's nice to know I can get it in this size at Costco if I need it. Thanks for posting, it is always good to have more than one retail source to buy this product.
For those of you who are able to buy Pastry Pride you might want to try these Bavarian fillings, the recipe was given to me by a cake decorator I worked for years ago. Very easy to make, delicious and can be flavored just about any flavor you like, and it holds up very well in wedding cakes.

Pastry Pride is a non-dairy whipped icing. Sort of like the whipped icings you would find on grocery store cakes. I personally, have never iced an entire cake with Pastry Pride, but I know many who do (for those who don't like Buttercream). I like to use it as a filling for my cakes because it does not have to be refrigerated. Last week, I made the Cookies & Cream filling from this site and used Pastry Pride instead of whipping cream. It was fantastic! And ShirleyW's recipe using a boxed pudding mix is also very good!
I'm not sure how different Pastry Pride is to Rich's - but they are both a non-dairy whipped icing. I've only used the chocolate version of Rich's, so I can't give a side by side compairison of the two.

Pastry Pride makes a chocolate version as well. I tried it and didn't care for it, it leaves kind of a greasy texture in your mouth.
Shirley, do you refrigerate the cakes that you use the Pastry Pride in for the fillings? I know that it's non dairy but I've been told that you have to refrigerate cool whip which is also non dairy. Just wondering whatcha think. Thanks so much.
