Anyone know what happens now? IT's like the pamppered chef stuff. Only supposed to be rinsed in hot water. Someone else washed it.

Any pampered chef people out there???

Was it soaked in soapy water?

I used to be a consultany and I can get my old books out if you need me to but my husband put mine in a sink full of soapy water and I put it in the oven for about an hour on a low setting to dry it out and its fine.

Don't worry. I have washed my Pampered chef stoneware many times over and you do not get a residual soapy taste or anything. I just couldn't bring myself not to wash them. Germs gross me out! icon_smile.gif

Thanks alot! I thought it was gross not to wash it too, but i do use extremely hot, hot water.

I'll try the oven. That was one idea I had, but wondered if it was safe.

My MIL sells Pampered Chef and if the stone got washed in really soapy water you could cover the top with white bread slices and bake them in the oven until they are toasted. It will soak up the soapy taste!
I wash my stones with a little bit of soap too if I baked something on them like meat or something.

Heather

Heat will kill bacteria and germs. If you are uncomfortable about not using soap... you could place in the dishwasher with out soap. It will get extra hot and clean. Soap just breaks down the food, but heat will kill germs. Your stone will be fine. I used to sell Pampered Chef. Good luck!

I was a PC consultant. You are told not to wash in soap...

But I have washed mine in soapy water as well as the dishwasher. I have never had a soapy taste afterwards...BUT if you do, you can bake something on it (like rolls or biscuits) and it's suppose to draw the soap out of it.

As far as germs, the heat from the hot water combined with the friction from the nylon pan scrapper used to clean it is more than enough to kill any bacteria (or so I've been taught). I have also been taught that regular soap does not kill bacteria, but is used as a loosening agent. Don't know how true that is, but that's what I was told.

Minnie

My PC consultant said to season your stone, bake something really greasy in it. Then bake some cheap bread in it like generic refigerated dough rolls.... I would bake some generic refigerated biscuits in the stone first and then bake something greasy in it to seal/season the stone and then bake some cheap bread it again if you want.

I am not a PC consultant but I have always used soap on my stones. I just have to get the greasy out. It does not all come off and I never soak it but I do use soapy water. I don't put soap directly on it. The soapy water just help clean it a bit more. I guess I just have to do it. I have never had soapy tasting food.
