a customer called from virginia (im in Pennsylvania!!!) to order a cake for a party that is here in town in june.

she wants a sheet cake with a 3D carved lighthouse standing up on the top. the sheet cake is to have waves/beachy theme. she mentioned those edible stones/rocks. the lighthouse can be covered in fondant.

and of course, she mentioned watching ace of cakes and wants something fancy like he does.

so...

HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?

When I tried making my lighthouse cake in my galleries, I searched in the galleries for "lighthouse". Tanyacakes made a beautiful lighthouse cake and when you click on the photo there is a little information on how it was made. In the galleries it's in the Seashells / Ocean / Beach category under themes. I hope that helps a little and good luck!

I just wanted to add that when I made my lighthouse I did it a little different - I made the lighthouse out of rice krispie treats, covered it in buttercream, and then wrapped fondant around it. Then I used a new clean toothbrush and spackled on some thinned frosting for a stucco effect. It was a little messy though. Well again, I hope it helps and good luck!
