In Search Of The Perfect Choc Chip Cookie
Baking By darby822 Updated 2 Mar 2007 , 8:44pm by DivineDelectables

I need your help finding a FANTASTIC chocolate chip cookie recipe. I am new to cake and cookie decorating and my dad has been so sweet and encouraging. He gets so excited about every picture I send him and is so proud of me he forwards them on to his friends. It is so sweet and even though I am a grown up (technically) it makes me feel like I am eight all over again!
He has spent his life in search of the perfect chocolate chip cookie. I would love to find a great recipe and send him a batch of really awesome cookies. Do y'all have any recipes you would recommend or share?
Thanks!

The recipe I use is

It is wonderful! The key is using two pans at a time and rotating them 1/2 through. Don't know why but it makes the perfect cookie. If you do not do that they don't turn out as good!

I LOVE the crisco Ultimate Chocolate Chip cookie recipe. It is by far the best cookie I think! I love the sugar cookie recipe also.

Chocolate chip cookies have many variations, and it is quite subjective about which one is perfect.
Here is a very good one:

I always make the ones on the back of the chocolate chip bag! My boyfriend loves them, but I am always trying to find a better one. I think I'll try the one from all recipes... it looks like it would work well.
The problem with cc cookies is that some people want them chewey, some crispy, some cakey. You can't please everyone with one cookie! Myself, I like a combo of chewey and crispy.

i ONLY use Mrs Field's recipe. to me, it's the perfect chocolate chip recipe. also swear by her sugar cookie recipe as well (yummy and they dont spread!).

i was in search of the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe last year. I tried dozens of them (spent a lot of money ha ha) but I found one I think is great.
Soft Chocolate chip cookies
4 sticks butter, softened 1 1/2 c packed brown sugar
2 eggs 1 Tsp baking powder
2 Tbs molasses 1 1/2 Tsp baking soda
2 Tsp vanilla 1 Tsp salt
1/3 c water 5 c flour
1 1/2 c sugar 1 1/2 12 oz bag of choc. chips
Cream butter, eggs, molasses, vanilla, and water
In large bowl combine sugars, baking soda, baking powder, salt and flour.
combine wet and dry ingredients. Stir in chips
Shape dough into 1" balls--place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8 minutes at 375.
Hope you try it....i'm sure he would love them

It would be terrific for him to get a big sample. Some suggestions:
Make them up a batch at a time, but keep track of which recipe is which. You could make them and freeze them in the dough stage, or fully baked.
If you package each effort in a ziplock back with the recipe or recipe name or some kind of reference, it will help.
It would be awful for him to select the 'perfect' one and not be able to do it again because you can't remember which is which!?!?!

I adore the Nestle Toll House recipe. These are SOOO yummy:

I am also a BIG BIG fan of the Butter Flavored Crisco recipe.
Here's a link to the recipe:

Here's my favorite:
Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 c. Blue Bonnet margarine, softened
1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) bag semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips (Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Chips are my favorite)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, cream together margarine, sugars, vanilla, and eggs. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Combine both mixtures; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Place golf ball sized portions of dough 2" apart on a baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are just slightly browned. Do not overcook. Yield: 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
This recipe is also great for a large chocolate chip cookie!

weberm, you're recipe looks interesting... I've never tried one with molasses and water in it. How do they turn out? (chewey, crispy, etc.)

Here's the recipe that I use.. it's still the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had!
1 c. shortening
2/3 c. brown sugar (packed)
2/3 c. white sugar
Cream above ingredients until smooth.
Add:
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Stir well and then mix in:
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 bag chocolate chips
Keep adding flour until your dough isn't very sticky.. it's really a consistency thing to get a good chocolate chip cookie. The key is in the flour!
Roll into balls and place on a greased cookie sheet (spaced apart) and bake for 8-10 minutes @ 350 degrees, or until edges are slightly brown.
Rotate your cookie sheets, so while one is baking keep the other out and then use that one to bake the next set of cookies.

They are very soft cookies. They are more of a flat cookie........but yum They stay soft for a long time! You have to try them. The are delicious

I am known around here for my chocolate chop cookies. I hate to admit it but I use the recipe on the back of the Tollhouse bag. I make them big and make sure I always use my silpat. I form then and then make a little indention on the underside in teh middle so they will cook all the way through (since I make them so big
I will try to add a picture

I TOTALLY agree! I use the butter flavor crisco recipe, and have always gotten the most compliments on them. It's the only recipe I use!

I have to admit I couldnt make a good choc chip cookie to save my life until I found the recipe that is on food network . So, I have to second the link to the recipe recommend from food network, My big fat choc chip cookie that was made earlier.
I made this awhile ago and my husband swore they were bought or some one else had made them. LOL!!

I was searching the web for a soft and chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe and came across this one. I sure wish that I could remember where I found it, because my family loves it.
Chewy Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups of flour
- 1 tsp. of baking soda
- 1 cup of soft butter
- 3/4 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of white sugar
- 1 instant vanilla pudding pack.
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. of vanilla
- 2 cups of chocolate chips
- 1 cup of nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
Cream together the butter, brown and the white sugar. Then add the pudding powder into the mix. Add the eggs and vanilla. Gradually add the flour that was mixed with the baking soda. Finally, add the chocolate chips and the optional nuts. Stir well. Place dough at least 2 inches apart on the oven sheet.
Bake from 10 to12 minutes. The sides of the cookies must golden a bit before taking out of the oven. Let cool for a few minutes, prepare your glass of milk or coffee and enjoy!
You can also try changing the vanilla pudding powder for chocolate or caramel ones!

I have that same recipe bakedandiced. I got it off of allrecipes.com. I tried another chocolate chip cookie recipe that I got off Martha Stewart's website. I made 8 dozen of them this past weekend and my friends were none the wiser that I had switched recipes on them.

I bake ALOT of cookies! I came up with a base recipe that I use and then just add to it. They come out wonderful every time. 1 cup unsalted butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup white sugar, mix until smooth then add 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking soda mixed with 2 tsp warm water (warm water cuts the soda taste) then add 3 1/2 cups AP flour. Mix well then add whatever you want. Bake at 325 or 350 depending on size of cookies time also vary depending on size.
