Walmart is selling the barbie cakes here in Arkansas. That burns me. They are selling them for 29.99 plus tax. So I normally charge 45 but may have to go down. They have it on display and the dress looks awful.

I have also seen the Wal-Mart Barbie cakes, and you are right they don't look right. The one I saw the dress was almost square. $34.99 was the one I saw.

....just remind your customers that no matter what Walmart puts on the outside....the inside is still a Walmart cake!! icon_smile.gif

I agree with Missey. Not only does YOUR cake taste better, but the work put your heart and soul into every cake. Walmart just isn't the same!

Not only that...but remind your customers that if they order YOUR cake, the design is one of a kind..Walmart just doesn't cut it..everyone gets the same thing!

Tell them your Barbie cake comes with a designer dress, and it's a limited edition cake. Can't find the look or taste at Wally World!

I've seen the doll cakes at Wal-Mart and Kroger, and they're a joke! They look like someone piled 8" rounds up about 4 high, beveled the edge of the top one, and stuck a doll in it. Stoooopid looking, IMO.

Don't lower your prices for that. Make a gorgeous dummy cake and people will see that the difference between Wal-Mart and a professional is well worth the few extra dollars!

(Princess, what on earth is your avatar? LOL ~ I can't figure it out!)

Dont lower your prices...a walmart cake could NEVER compare to a homemade cake...

Since i started this cake docorating thing, no matter what store/bakery cake i try...NOTHING cuts it for me anymore..we have to try to make our customers think like we do...home made is always home made...a sprinkle of love in every recipe...icon_wink.gif
